The Hoover Alabama Chamber of Commerce, its staff, members, officers and board members extend a warm welcome to you. We pride ourselves on being one of the South's fastest growing communities, offering new and progressive opportunities every day. Hoover spans almost 50 square miles of territory, involving much of Jefferson County and Shelby County. Seven Lila Parks Scholarship Winners were recognized at the May Chamber Luncheon, sponsored Alabama Telco Credit Union. From left, Andrew Vines (3.8 GPA at Alabama in Accounting); Amy Hester (3.9 GPA at Hoover HS, going to Montevallo); Ann Kathryn Rockwell (4.0 GPA at Alabama in Physics and Math); Lila Parks; T'Ana Williams (4.08 at Leeds HS, going to UAB); Madison Wilson (3.68 at Hoover HS, going to Troy); and John Newton (4.0 GPA at Alabama in MIS). A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held May 10 Network Funding in Inverness. A Ribbon Cutting was held May 11 at the new Embassy Suites Hotel in Hoover. Shown cutting the ribbon is Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos, surrounded by dozens of Hotel top management and staff, as well as construction and financial advisors and Chamber Ambassadors. The hotel added some 230 rooms to the Hoover hotel inventory, just in time for the SEC Baseball Tournament and Regions Charity Classic.
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held May 25 at Shades Crest Shell in Hoover, with some 160 people in attendance, including the mayors and police and fire chiefs from both Hoover and Helena in attendance. Jay Modi, with scissors, owns both the Chevron Station in Helena and the Shades Crest Shell in Hoover. To the left of Mr. Modi is Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos, and to the right of him is Helena Mayor Sonny Penhale. They are joined by literally scores of family, friends, city employees, and Chamber Ambassadors.

The Regions Charity Classic Golf Tournament is coming to Hoover next month, and we need volunteers to help! The dates are May 12-16, with the tournament at the famed Ross Bridge course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Hoover. The Pro-Am Tournament will be Wednesday and Thursday, May 12-13, with famous golfers and amateurs playing together, including national champion Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban. A Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held March 10 at Danberry at Inverness, and new Senior Living Facility that will feature cottages, homes, and apartments - located on Lake Heather just off Highway 280. It is a 37-acre project of Daniel Corporation. Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos is shown cutting the ribbon, as he is surrounded by executives from Daniel Corporation, suppliers, friends, and chamber ambassadors.
A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held Tuesday, March 23 for the new Hampton Inn at The Village at Lee Branch Shopping Center. On the left is Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos, joined by officials from the Hampton Inn franchise holder.

Three Hoover Firefighters were selected as finalists for the Firefighter of the Year Award and presented at the February Chamber Luncheon. Anthony Warren was recognized as the 2009 Detention Officer of the Year at the February 18 Chamber Luncheon for his outstanding work in dealing with difficult situations in the Hoover City Jail. Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis cited him for several situations in which he showed above-and-beyond maturity and dedication in the performance of his duties.
A huge Open House and Ribbon Cutting was held February 4 at the new Aveda Institute-Birmingham-Hoover located in the former Galleria Theater building on Galleria Boulevard. Aveda is a training institute for beauty and other consultants. Shown cutting the ribbon is Terry Blackwell as his wife Janine O'Neill-Blackwell and daughter Riley assist, and several dozen students, employees and friends look on. Over 500 attended the Open House.

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held at Fresenius Medical Care in Hoover on February 23, a dialysis treatment center located in the former Ryan's Steak House building behind Union State Bank on Lorna Road. Joe Thomas (left) was recognized at the January Annual Meeting as the Ambassador of the Fourth Quarter for his outstanding volunteer work during the last three months of the year as an ambassador by 2009 Chamber President Dan Ellis.
Anna Kathryn Ellis (left) was recognized last month as the Ambassador of the Year for her outstanding volunteer work during the entire year for the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce by 2009 Chamber President Dan Ellis (no relation).
David Bradley (left) was recognized as the Board Member of the Year for his leadership role on the Chamber Board of Directors during 2009 by Chamber President Dan Ellis. David has chaired the Economic Development Committee for the past three years.
Katie Wesley (right) was recognized as the Member of the Year for the entire Chamber of Commerce for her outstanding volunteer work in several areas of chamber involvement throughout the year. She worked on the Chamber Golf Tournament as a volunteer, and provided meals for the committee through her previous and current employer, Firebirds and Buffalo Wild Wings. In addition, she also worked with the Miss Hoover Pageant, getting other restaurants and businesses involved as sponsors.
Outgoing 2009 Chamber President Dan Ellis (right) was recognized for his leadership and the achievements of the Chamber during the 2009 year by incoming 2010 Chamber President Robert Linthout at the January 21 Chamber Luncheon as he presented Ellis with a beautiful plaque. President Linthout then gave a State of the Chamber Address to the packed audience, outlining several goals and objectives of the Chamber Board.
A Ribbon Cutting was held January 12 at Medical Weight Loss Solutions on Highway 280 next to Lowe's. Shown cutting the ribbon is Terri Shoemaker, as she is joined by several staff members, friends and chamber ambassadors.
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held January 19 at Rocky Heights Print and Binding in Pelham. Cutting the ribbon is owner JaAnne Dezenzio, as she is joined by many friends and family, as well as several Hoover chamber ambassadors.
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held January 25 at the new Alabama Telco Credit Union on Montgomery Highway in Hoover at the Chace Lake Center. Cutting the Ribbon here is Credit Union President Linda Cencula, joined by her parents, her board of directors, staff, and a host of Hoover chamber ambassadors.

December 2009

At the February 18 Chamber Luncheon, we will recognize Hoover's Finest - the Firefighter of the Year, Police Officer of the Year, 911 Operator of the Year, and the Jailer of the Year, sponsored by TurnerBatson Architects and Wachovia Bank. This will be the fifteenth year of these awards, and is one of the most important and significant programs of the Chamber for the entire year. Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos, center, was presented with the very first copy of the 2010 Hoover Magazine at the Chamber Open House in December by then First Vice President Robert Linthout, left, and Second Vice President David Bradley. Some 10,000 copies are ready to be distributed throughout the Hoover Area through members, advertisers, and to visitors and residents. This is the first edition to be published to chamber member Alliance Publishing Group of Homewood, who specializes in chamber magazines throughout Alabama.
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held December 10 at La Dolce Vita Restaurant on Montgomery Highway in Hoover. They are surrounded by several staff members, city representatives, and chamber ambassadors.
Miss Hoover 2010, Abigail Hardin, a student at the University of Alabama attended the City's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony December 3 at Hoover City Hall. She is wearing a mink coat on loan from one of her sponsors, Maxine Furs. It was deeply appreciated that evening, as the temperatures were well below freezing!

November 2009

Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos spoke at a press conference held at the Hoover Library in recognition of Veterans Week, a full week set aside in Hoover to honor all veterans. The City of Hoover Employee-of-the-Year Finalists were recognized at the November Chamber Luncheon for the fourteenth consecutive year, sponsored by Regions Bank. New Allstate Insurance Agent Joseph Puckett held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony November 10 at his office in Pelham, behind McAlister's Deli off Highway 31. Because of the rainy day, the ceremony was held inside. Joseph is shown cutting the ribbon as his wife, Lauren, holds the bow. To the right of Joseph is Bethany Holsomback, and to the left of Lauren is Debbie Rodgers and they are joined several Chamber ambassadors.
