Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos to Give State of the City Address
Colonial Bank will sponsor the December 18 Chamber Luncheon, and has invited Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos to give the State of the City Address. Mayor Petelos was unopposed in the Mayoral race this year and was sworn in for his second term on November 3rd. Mayor Petelos has a long history of service to the people of Alabama and especially Jefferson County. He was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1986 and was twice re-elected, serving until 1997. In that year, he was appointed Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Human Resources by Governor Fob James and re-appointed to that position by Governor Don Siegelman.
He has served on many Boards and Committees including being honored by the City of Hope in 2000 for social work in the community; Board Member of Kid One Transport, Children’s First Foundation, and UAB Alumni Association. He is a Major in the Alabama Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, and serves on the State of Alabama Board for Department of Human Resources. In addition, he was recently recognized as the March of Dimes 2006 Citizen of the Year.
He is married to Judge Teresa Petelos, the Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Bessemer Division. They have two daughters, Angela is a student at University of Alabama Birmingham and Stephanie is a student at Hoover High School.
Each year, the Mayor gives an update on the State of the City of Hoover to the Chamber. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting starting sharply at noon. The Luncheon is $15.00, payable at the door. Payment can be made by cash, check, or major credit cards. Cancellations are accepted until the afternoon after the luncheon, but those who make reservations and simply don’t come will be invoiced, since a meal will have been ordered for them at their request.
