Hoover is "Best Place To Live"
In 2006, Hoover was named to MONEY Magazine’s annual list of Best Places to Live in America. Out of 745 cities with populations exceeding 50,000, Hoover was ranked 75th.
A team of MONEY editors and writers undertook several months of research, reviewing data in three categories: economic opportunity, taking into account income, job growth and affordability; quality-of-life indicators, including risk of violent crime and property crime, quality of public schools, arts and leisure, park space and incidence of stress-related ailments; and “ease of living” gauges such as commute times, divorce rates, population density and weather.
Working with data provider Onboard of New York City and consultant Bert Sperling of BestPlaces.net, MONEY’s team narrowed the list they visited cities across the country. Interviewing residents, community leaders and local officials before compiling the final rankings.

Looking for a place to call home? Look in Hoover. With its unique combination of family values, convenience, culture and civic pride, Hoover has everything a place for people of all ages at all stages of life. And according to the real estate professionals in the area, Hoover practically
sells itself.
“Many find Hoover such an attractive place to live because it offers all the amenities of a large city in a small, friendly and community environment,” said Dee McGraw, outreach and sales coordinator for Prime Communities, Inc.
“Small and large families as well as singles can all find unsurpassed dining, entertainment, schools and libraries in a safe setting here, and great shopping is just a stone’s throw away.”
Richard Head, a residential specialist with RE/MAX Advantage, agrees.
“We have most anything people could want,” he said, “and there’s a strong demand for both new
and resale homes.”
Head, himself a Hoover resident, also noted that while Hoover has outstanding city schools and city services, the city’s tax base is quite reasonable.
“Speaking from personal experience, Hoover is the ideal place for my family to live and work,” he said.

In the new home category, all inclusive communities such as Lake Cyrus and Greystone offer residents luxury living on a number of levels – from garden homes to estate homes in gated neighborhoods – and amenities such as lakes, parks, recreational facilities and convenience to schools and shopping. The Trace Crossings community features traditional style homes on large, wooded lots, lakes and a system of biking and walking trails. Six elegant new neighborhoods surround the fabulous Ross Bridge conference center and golf course, where the demand for home sites has thus far exceeded developers’ expectations. Of the neighborhoods’ combined total of 500 lots, 300 had been developed and sold to builders by the end of 2005.
Many apartment home options are available in Hoover with some of the finest being found in the beautiful multi-dimensional The Preserve. This unique community also offers townhomes, cottages, villas, manors and estate homes.
While new homes are being constructed at a record rate, the older home market in Hoover continues to thrive. Areas such as Green Valley and Bluff Park, for example, enjoy a constant influx of young families needing more space for their money or people
who simply desire the charm of an older home.
